Maintenance Checklist: Extending the Lifespan of Your 1325 Laser Cutter

The 1325 laser cutter, as a widely used industrial-grade CO₂ laser cutting machine, has a workstation size of 1300mm × 2500mm. Regular maintenance can significantly extend its lifespan and enhance cutting quality and efficiency. Below is a maintenance checklist for extending the lifespan of a 1325 laser cutter:

Daily Maintenance

  • Clean the machine: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe the surface of the machine, removing dust, debris, and material residues. Focus on cleaning optical components such as lenses and mirrors. Gently clean them with lens-cleaning paper and isopropyl alcohol to prevent residue buildup that could affect laser beam quality. Also, clean the cutting bed to ensure smooth material placement and cutting.
  • Check the cooling system: Inspect the chiller's water level and ensure it is within the normal range. If the water level is low, promptly top it up. Check the cooling water's circulation and observe whether the water pump is operating normally, with no unusual noise or vibration. Monitor the cooling water temperature, ideally maintaining it between 20–25°C. If the temperature is too high, check the chiller's cooling efficiency and clean the water tank and water pump as needed.
  • Inspect the laser tube: Check for cracks or damage on the laser tube's surface. Observe whether the laser beam emitted during operation is stable and normal. If abnormalities are detected, promptly identify the cause and address the issue.
  • Check the guide rails and gantry: Observe whether the guide rails are clean and free of debris. If dust or dirt is present, use a clean cloth dipped in a small amount of lubricant to wipe the guide rails. Check the gantry's movement for smoothness and flexibility. If resistance or unusual noise is encountered, inspect the guide rails and gantry for wear or looseness and take appropriate action.

Weekly Maintenance

  • Clean the fan and air filter: Turn off the power and disconnect the fan's intake and exhaust pipes. Clean the accumulated dust inside the fan. Inspect the air filter for blockages or damage and clean or replace it as needed to ensure proper exhaust ventilation and prevent dust from entering the laser tube.
  • Clean the water tank and replace the water: Drain the circulating water from the chiller's water tank, clean the tank thoroughly, and refill it with pure water or distilled water. Ensure the water quality is clean and the temperature does not exceed 35°C to maintain the laser tube's lifespan.
  • Inspect and lubricate the guide rails and racks: Check the guide rails and racks for wear and corrosion. Apply an appropriate amount of lubricant to the guide rails and lubricate the racks with grease to reduce friction and extend their service life.

Monthly Maintenance

  • Calibrate the laser beam: Use the manufacturer's recommended tools and procedures to check and adjust the laser beam's alignment. Ensure the laser beam's focus position is accurate to maintain cutting precision and quality.
  • Inspect and clean the mirrors: Remove the mirrors from the laser path and gently clean their surfaces with lens-cleaning paper and isopropyl alcohol. Reinstall the mirrors and adjust their alignment to ensure the laser beam accurately reflects along the designated path.
  • Inspect the belts and pulleys: Check the tightness of the belts. If looseness is detected, adjust the tension accordingly. Inspect the pulleys for wear or damage. If issues are found, replace the pulleys promptly to ensure stable transmission and smooth machine operation.

Quarterly Maintenance

  • Inspect and maintain the electrical system: Check the electrical connections for looseness or corrosion. Tighten any loose connections and clean corroded areas. Inspect the circuit breakers, relays, and other electrical components for proper functioning. Replace any faulty components to ensure the electrical system operates safely and reliably.
  • Inspect and clean the dust removal system: Regularly clean the dust removal fan and filters to prevent dust buildup that could reduce exhaust efficiency. Check the dust removal ducts for leaks or blockages and repair or replace them as needed to ensure effective dust removal and protect the laser cutter from dust damage.

Annual Maintenance

  • Replace consumables: Components such as lenses, mirrors, nozzles, and belts are consumables that wear out over time. Replace them according to the manufacturer's recommendations or based on actual usage to ensure cutting quality and machine performance.
  • Comprehensive inspection of the machine: Conduct a thorough inspection of the entire machine, including the laser source, cooling system, drive system, electrical system, and optical path system. Address any issues promptly to ensure the machine operates normally.

Other Maintenance Tips

  • Software updates: Keep the laser cutter's software updated to benefit from improved features, bug fixes, and enhanced performance. Install software updates promptly to ensure compatibility with different materials and designs.
  • Provide a suitable operating environment: Place the machine in a dry, well-ventilated workspace with temperatures between 4–33°C. Avoid exposing the machine to direct sunlight, excessive humidity, or dusty conditions. Ensure the machine is positioned on a stable and level foundation to minimize vibrations.
  • Professional maintenance services: Regularly schedule certified technicians to perform professional maintenance checks. They can conduct comprehensive diagnostics, identify potential issues early, and address them before they escalate into major problems.

By following the above maintenance checklist and developing a good maintenance routine, you can effectively extend the lifespan of a 1325 laser cutter, enhance its cutting quality and efficiency, and reduce maintenance costs and equipment downtime.
